Is it like the punching speed increases with heavier gloves? And my gloves are too old and I am planning to buy a new pair. Should I buy a heavier one this time?

I don’t think that the punching speed increases with heavier gloves. It actually depends upon your weight. If you are heavier, then it is better to practice with a heavier glove else go for a lighter one. And I have an advice too. Find out a place or store where you get branded boxing gloves so that you will not need to buy new ones all the time. Only a branded one will last long.
