The play “The Post Office ” was written by Rabindranath Tagore in 1912. The story is about Amal, an 8 year old terminally ill boy. The most tragic and philosophical element of the play is that when the village headman mocks Amal he has received a letter from the King promising that his royal physician will come to cure his disease. The royal physician really does come with the King but unfortunately Amal dies at that moment.
