Thermal energy is energy possessed by an object due the kinetic energy of particles within the object. Also, the thermal energy can be defined as the ability of something to do work due to the movement of its particles. The faster the particles of the object move, the more heat will generate. The motion of thermal energy is usually not visible to us, but we can feel or see its effects. Thermal energy is used for cooking our foods and heats our homes. We also use this energy to generate electricity. The unit for measuring thermal energy is Joule.
